F-R-E-E ADVERTISING METHODS

Parts 3 and 4 will cover my favorite free advertising methods. SFI is a great opportunity and the free gateway pages they provide you are perfect for these techniques. Remember, these methods may take more time than the paid methods, but if you perform them consistently then they will work for you! Don’t forget to track your ads!

Free Classifieds Ads
There is a great article in the SFI Special Reports entitled A Small Guide To Free Advertising that I HIGHLY recommend you read. It covers a lot of information regarding free classified ads, so I will only add to what is already covered in that article on this topic here and offer some tips specifically for Craigslist. Please take the time to read the article before beginning to post free classifieds to maximize your success rate!

Although SFI has provided you with some great pre-written text ads for you to use, you will usually get better results if you make them unique. So, try to use them as a guide to create your own unique ad by adding you own personal touch or testimonial. How do you write an effective ad? Use AIDA! AIDA is an acronym that stands for Attention, Desire, Interest, and Action. This is a tried and true technique most copywriters know about and use faithfully. You should always refer to it when write any advertisement.

1. Get you readers Attention with a captivating headline. Make your ad stand out from the others around it.
2. Maintain their Interest by showing the benefits to support the claim you made in the headline. Let them know what SFI has to offer!
3. Create Desire by telling them what they’ll get it they take action right now. People always want to know “What’s in it for me?”
4. Give them an obvious call to Action. Click the link below… Sign up free today… Don’t miss this opportunity… etc.

Here a few tips specifically for Craigslist
1. Read the rules first. Follow the rules or you will ruin your chances of using this very popular resource.
2. Post your ad in the correct category because your ad will get kicked off if the community thinks it’s spam.
3. Focus on the San Francisco Bay site first. It has a page rank of 8, so it’s constantly getting spidered which increases your chances of showing up in the search engines.
4. Ads for Craiglist are more like mini-articles, rather than short text ads. Try to use a targeted keyword in the title as well as early and often in the ad. You can use the free keyword research tool provided by Wordtracker to find keywords that have to do with “home business” or “work at home”.
